Chaos Zero Nightmare Official Apology! S3 Nerfs Rolled Back, Free 5-Star Selector as Server-Wide Compensation

Official Nerfs to Old Season Content Spark Player Outrage
From July 22 to 26, the Chaos Dream player community went through a full roller coaster. Before the S4 season scheduled to launch on July 29, the official team suddenly announced nerfs to S3 season mask cards, equipment, and engravings. As soon as the news dropped, players exploded, with many voicing dissatisfaction and anger across community channels.
The issue escalated much faster than the officials had expected. Most of the community’s anger centered on one question: “We spent an entire season grinding these progression results, and now you just cut them?”
The official team then quickly released an apology announcement within 24 hours and made major adjustments to the controversial changes.
Event Recap: A “Season-End Backstab”?
With S3 about to end, the mask cards, equipment, and engravings that players had worked hard to build were the core combat power of the season. According to previous practice, existing season content would not be changed at the end of a season. This time, however, the official team chose to take the knife to old content before the new season, a move that hit exactly where players were most sensitive.
Sure enough, right after the official team’s questionable adjustment plan came out, player reactions erupted almost instantly: communities were flooded, feedback channels were overwhelmed, and many players said they would quit if the nerfs went live. The speed at which negative sentiment spread clearly exceeded the operations team’s expectations.

Official 24-Hour Apology: Three Key Concessions
After public opinion intensified, the development team quickly issued an apology announcement and made the following adjustments:
【Full Rollback of S3 Season Nerfs】
All nerfs targeting S3 season mask cards, equipment, and engravings have been canceled, fully preserving the progression results players built over the season. This was the players’ core demand, and the official team chose a full rollback.
【Stack Limit Raised from 15 to 20】
The stack limit for Morale, Unyielding, and Steadfast has been raised from 15 to 20, moderately loosening the restriction. However, the official team also explained its logic: “If victory or defeat depends entirely on stacking generic buffs, each character’s unique mechanics will lose meaning.” Therefore, the limit still exists, but with more room to work with.
【Server-Wide Compensation: Five-Star Selector】
On top of the originally planned progression materials, all players will receive an extra five-star character selector. This level of compensation is a first in Chaos Dream’s operations history, and players have interpreted it as “a show of sincerity.” Remember to log in after the new season update on July 29 and claim it from your in-game mailbox.

Adjustments Still Kept: Aoleya and Some Equipment
The official team did not reject every planned nerf. Adjustments to Aoleya and some equipment will remain, as the team believes their synergy strength far exceeds the intended design scope and harms the balance of the ecosystem. These changes will therefore continue to take effect after S4 launches.
In the official announcement, the game team also gave clear explanations and assurances. This both acknowledged the mistake and indirectly confirmed the future principle of “not nerfing old season content.”

An Expensive Operations Lesson
For the Chaos Dream operations team, this incident came at a real cost. It not only consumed players’ reserve of trust, but also forced the team to offer a high-value compensation item like a five-star selector. Still, the result is at least positive: the S3 nerfs were withdrawn, stack limits were loosened, and server-wide compensation was confirmed.
As for Aoleya’s adjustment, it falls under balance correction, and that part of the debate will likely continue for some time.
S4 launches on July 29, and a new environment is about to begin. After this incident, at least one thing is clear: before touching old season content again, the official team will probably think twice.
