To be honest, the Version 7.1 poster surprised a lot of players.

Not simply because it looks great, but because Gold finally appears in human form. The alchemist who has been mentioned since launch and previously appeared only as a silhouette or non-human figure now shows her face. Dainsleif and the Tsaritsa stand beside her, placing characters from the Throne of Snezhnaya, old Khaenri'ah, and the Heavenly Principles faction in one image.

Genshin Impact Version 7.1, “A Lament for the Departed,” officially launches on September 23, 2026.

The timing is special: the sixth anniversary falls on September 28, only five days after launch. Anniversary rewards are expected to be among the most generous of the year.

Banner Schedule: Two Standard Phases

Phase 1: September 23 - October 13

Phase 2: October 14 - November 3

Vezna and Vojanissa will appear in the same Phase 1 banner period rather than being split between the two halves. Players who want both should plan their Primogems carefully.

New Character Details

Vezna: Five-Star Anemo Sword

Role: An on-field damage dealer focused on the Star Vortex mechanic.

Combat style: Her Elemental Skill uses a three-stage stacking attack and grants unique aerial mobility, with an overworld climbing height comparable to Chasca.

Signature weapon: Beyond Cocoon, a five-star sword. Her second constellation is a major comfort upgrade, granting full stacks when entering her Skill state.

Vojanissa: Five-Star Hydro Catalyst

Role: Hydro support, healer, and an enabler for the Star Vortex mechanic.

Combat style: Her Skill provides 26% Hydro and Cryo resistance reduction, interruption resistance, and periodic healing. Her passive talent can reduce Anemo resistance by 30%.

Signature weapon: Whirlpool's Hymn, a five-star catalyst.

Both characters are built around Star Vortex, making Version 7.1 the official launch of this new reaction system. Vojanissa will likely be an essential teammate for Vezna.

Gold's Human Debut in the Preview Poster

The official poster released on September 7 features the Tsaritsa, Dainsleif, Pierro, Gold, Ronova, Vezna, and Vojanissa together.

Gold appears in human form for the first time. As one of Khaenri'ah's Five Sinners, her appearance may signal that the story is about to explore Teyvat's deepest secrets.

Paimon is absent from the poster. Combined with the title “A Lament for the Departed,” this has sparked plenty of speculation about the story.

Anniversary Rewards: Standard Five-Star Selector and First-Purchase Reset

The sixth anniversary takes place on September 28. Expected rewards include a selectable standard five-star character, 20 pulls through an in-game Primogem mail, and a reset of the first-purchase double bonus. Final details will be announced during the special program.
