Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Matis Squad Gets a Full Upgrade! Laplace's "Mjolnir" Goes Live, Maxwell's New Armaments Debut Alongside

Guys, the Metis Squad is really about to take off this time!
On July 23, the new forms of Laplace and Maxwell will officially go live~ One is the Ultimate Hero swinging a thunder hammer, and the other is a genius technician carrying a brand-new research weapon—Missilis Industry has really gone all in this time!
After checking out the previews and skill breakdowns, all I can say is: this update definitely has something going on. Laplace is no longer just the old “vibes-only team leader,” and Maxwell is no longer merely a research maniac. Both of them now have combat power that can genuinely change the battlefield.
This article will explain both characters’ mechanics, roles, and pull recommendations in one go. Whether you lack firepower or support, you can decide for yourself after reading.
Laplace: Ultimate Hero — Thunder Hammer, the Hero Returns

As the captain of the Metis Squad, Laplace has always symbolized the Ark’s strongest combat power. Her new form, “Ultimate Hero,” finally gives her strength worthy of that title—her weapon has been upgraded from the original launcher into “Ultimate Hero Syndrome,” a thunder hammer imbued with lightning power that can punish villains threatening the Ark.
Missilis Industry, the company she belongs to, is known for cutting-edge technology, and this upgrade also represents the company’s most advanced weaponization technology.
[Skill Mechanics and Battle Role]
Laplace: Ultimate Hero is classified as an Attacker-type Nikke. Her core mechanic revolves around “enhancing her own attack power”—when she uses her Burst Skill, she greatly boosts her own ATK and deals significant damage to multiple enemies. From a practical standpoint, she may become a representative of the next generation of wave-clearing DPS.
The combination of Wind code and launcher weapon gives her a natural advantage against certain enemies. Her ammo type is described as “RL,” which is likely short for “Rocket Launcher,” continuing the weapon type of the original Laplace.
[Expected Strength]
Some reviews state: “Laplace: Ultimate Hero is an Attacker character who strengthens her own attack power when using her Burst Skill and deals massive damage to multiple enemies.” This description suggests she may be positioned as a next-generation AOE burst damage dealer, which means she could become a key character who changes the game experience for players lacking strong firepower.
Special Recruitment Period: After maintenance on July 23, 2026, until August 12 (UTC+9).
Maxwell: Innocent Technician — Weapon Innovation, Refined Support

In the setting, Maxwell is the “brain” of the Metis Squad—a genius researcher who loves machinery and knowledge, and who develops her own weapons and tactics. With sharp insight, outstanding intelligence, and the ability to craft weapons by hand, she handles the brainwork and sarcastic remarks within the Metis Squad.
Her new form, “Innocent Technician,” may represent her return to her roots as a “researcher.” She wields a new weapon named “My Holy Baby,” allowing her to pierce through enemies with stronger armaments while also using enhanced equipment to provide more delicate support to her “troublemaking teammates.”
[Skill Mechanics and Battle Role]
Maxwell: Innocent Technician is positioned as a Supporter-type Nikke, using an “SR” weapon (presumably a sniper rifle) and Wind code.
Her core mechanic is boosting the whole team’s ATK—when she uses her Burst Skill, she strengthens both herself and all allies. This means she can not only contribute damage, but also significantly raise the team’s overall firepower.
[Expected Strength]
The original Maxwell is already an excellent sniper and team damage support in the game. Her Skill 1, “Straight Shot,” increases charge speed and ATK for the 2 allies with the highest ATK during Full Burst, so she is often used in sniper-focused teams.
Based on previous discussions in overseas communities, the original Maxwell often appears as a damage-boosting support for piercing main DPS characters such as “Snow White/Alice/Scarlet,” performing especially well in Union Raid. With her new form strengthening teamwide support capabilities, she may very well become a next-generation core support for future high-difficulty content.
Special Recruitment Period: July 30, 2026, to August 20 (UTC+9). It opens on a staggered schedule from Laplace, so you can plan your resources separately~
Skin Information

In addition to the two new Nikkes themselves, matching outfits will also be released:
Laplace: Ultimate Hero - Prototype Hero: obtainable through the PROTOTYPE PASS, includes full voice lines;
Maxwell: Innocent Technician - Chief Researcher: obtainable through the August Mission Pass;
Summary and Pull Recommendations
| Character | New Form Role | Recruitment Period | Best Use Cases | Recommendation |
| Laplace | Ultimate Hero Attacker (AOE burst) | 7.23 - 8.12 | Wave clearing, campaign pushing, PVE multi-target fights | ★★★★ Priority if you lack firepower |
| Maxwell | Innocent Technician Supporter (teamwide ATK boost) | 7.30 - 8.20 | Team damage boost, high-difficulty raids | ★★★★★ Extremely versatile |
If you need a strong wave-clearing DPS, Laplace is worth pulling; if your team needs support that can raise its overall ceiling, Maxwell is the safer choice. The two characters are split between the first and second halves, giving you enough time to plan your resources—secure Laplace first, then consider Maxwell afterward!
Not Enough Gems? Check Out Kardz NIKKE Top Up
When it comes to pulls, there is one real problem you have to face—running out of gems. With the new forms of Laplace and Maxwell releasing back to back, relying only on daily and weekly resources can be tight. Especially if you want both of them, or if you also plan to pick up skins, the resource pressure will only get bigger.
If you play on the global or Japanese server, you can consider topping up gems through Kardz. Kardz supports gem recharge services for GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE, using UID direct top up, so you do not need to provide your account password.
Kardz Advantages:
● Cheaper than official channels: different denominations come with varying discounts, and the savings become very noticeable for long-term spenders;
● Fast delivery: with direct top up, gems usually arrive within minutes, so you do not have to wait for half a day;
● Longer customer service hours: if you encounter any issues, you can contact online support for assistance;
Confirm Three Things Before Ordering:
● Confirm your server: NIKKE has different regions such as global and Japanese servers, and choosing the wrong one will prevent the top up from going through;
● Choose direct top up mode: the entire process only requires your UID, and you do not need to hand over your account password;
● Make sure your UID is correct: wrong entries cannot be refunded, so be sure to double-check before placing an order;
Prepare your resources in advance, and you can go all in as soon as the banner opens on July 23! Wishing everyone a one-pull miracle and double SSRs with no off-banner spooks!
