Yangyang: Xuanling Team Composition Complete Tier List – From S to D

With the Version 3.5 update just around the corner, I took a long look around the Wuthering Waves community and found that many players are still struggling with team comps for Yangyang and Sui Sui. To help everyone figure out how to play and build teams after getting the new characters, here is a full tier ranking of their team options!

First, the pain point: S0 Yangyang without Chisaki basically drops straight to “NPC” tier.

If you have watched the official PV and character breakdown, you probably already understand Yangyang’s damage mechanic. It mainly revolves around stacks of “Void Annihilation Effect.” Her passive “Oath of Eternal Vigil” can provide up to 72% global damage amplification when the target reaches 6 stacks of Void Annihilation. Her Outro Skill also grants up to 125% Crit DMG buff, and when paired with a full-stack Feather Oath’s 180% Crit DMG, the numbers are indeed very generous!

But here is the problem: Void Annihilation Effect only has 3 stacks by default. To push it to 6 stacks, there are currently only two methods—Chisaki’s Outro Skill, or Yangyang’s own Sequence 3 “Reminiscence and Cloud Mausoleum.”

In other words, if S0 Yangyang does not have Chisaki, she can only stack half of the Void Annihilation layers, and can only enjoy up to half of the 180% Crit DMG from her passive “Feather Oath.” Multiple guide sources have directly pointed out that S0 Yangyang without Chisaki can easily become an “NPC,” or even “completely cooked.”

【Strong】Excellent representative team: Yangyang + Chisaki + Sui Sui

Let’s first look at the officially favored endgame team—the complete form of the Void Annihilation mechanic.

Chisaki’s Outro Skill raises the Void Annihilation cap from 3 stacks to 6 stacks and automatically applies stacks from off-field every second. This rhythm lets Yangyang reliably trigger Heavy Attack bursts, while Sui Sui provides huge ATK bonuses and RES reduction, directly filling the ATK multiplier gap Yangyang needs most!

If you are still unsure, you can refer to this team’s damage data: around 105,000 DPS and 1.2 million+ damage over two minutes. For comparison, the Amis + Moning + Linna wheelchair rotation has around 95,000 DPS.

Cost: Yangyang and Sui Sui are split between the first and second halves of the banner, so back-to-back pulling pressure is high. Chisaki is also the best teammate for teams like Cartethyia and Amis, so you need to weigh the cost of breaking up other teams.

【Top Tier】Mechanically complete but not full power: Chisaki available, Sui Sui unavailable

From the team analysis above, it is clear that Sui Sui is a core unit for high ATK buffs and RES reduction. Without her, the overall team rating is still not perfect, but with S1 Moning or other supports, the team can still reach top tier.

Option 1: Yangyang + Chisaki + Shorekeeper / Verina

Option 2: Yangyang + Chisaki + S1 Moning / other healers

Evaluation: The 6-stack Void Annihilation mechanic is complete, so damage is guaranteed. However, without Sui Sui’s exclusive ATK support and RES reduction, Shorekeeper’s Crit Rate bonus may overflow for Yangyang, making S1 Moning the better lower-cost substitute.

【Whale Route】High-sequence liberation: S3 Yangyang + any Heavy Attack support + any healer

The S3 effect “Reminiscence and Cloud Mausoleum” allows Yangyang herself to raise the Void Annihilation cap to 6 stacks, completely freeing her from Chisaki.

You can freely choose Heavy Attack supports such as Yuno / Mortefi / Linna, greatly improving team flexibility.

Cost: extremely high investment. Players who are not mid-to-high spenders should be cautious. Multiple guides point out that S3 is the major breakpoint, but for most players, S0+signature already unlocks her core combat power.

【NPC】Incomplete mechanics: no Chisaki, no S3, but has lower-tier substitutes

Team reference: Yangyang + Electro Rover + Sui Sui / Shorekeeper

Core issue: Void Annihilation is limited to only 3 stacks, so the passive “Feather Oath” 180% Crit DMG can only be used halfway at most. Solo rotations have trouble maintaining stacks, and multiple guides state that “multi-target stacking without Chisaki is extremely painful.” The damage is barely playable, but it is no longer in the same league as the tiers above.

【Completely Cooked】Do not build like this: S0 Yangyang + random fillers

No Chisaki, no S3, no Sui Sui, and not even Electro Rover—just throwing in two random characters and expecting to fight??? This team setup is extremely risky!

Void Annihilation stacks stay stuck at 3 forever, the passive cannot be fully used, Heavy Attack damage cannot come out, and the rotation becomes painfully clogged. Multiple guides directly call S0 Yangyang without Chisaki a benchwarmer. If you plan to build like this, you might as well save your Astrites for Sui Sui in the second-half banner—at least she genuinely has team value.
