Genshin Impact Lohen Build Guide 6.6

Lohen is live in Version 6.6 Phase 2 alongside a Mavuika rerun, and he plays differently from every other Cryo carry in the current roster.

He's not a one-rotation nuke character. He runs a dual-resource system where his damage scales with how hard your off-field teammates hit while he's on the field. Build him right and his ceiling is genuinely scary. Miss the team synergy and he feels weirdly flat for a 5-star.

This guide covers his damage mechanics, the only artifact set worth farming, which weapon matters, the team putting up the highest numbers right now, and whether constellations are actually worth chasing.

一、 How Lohen's Damage Actually Works

Lohen manages two meters simultaneously while he's active:

  • The Joy Arrow: Normal and Charged Attacks fill this. Two Charged Attacks tops it out. Once full, pressing Skill triggers a special 4-hit rapid Cryo strike sequence. At C0, this can fire up to three times per Skill window. This special strike is where the majority of his damage comes from.

  • The Will to Win Bar: This one is unusual — it doesn't fill from Lohen's own attacks. It fills from off-field damage your teammates deal while Lohen is active on the field. Hard-hitting off-field supports like Durin fill it fast. Low-damage off-field characters barely move it. A full bar multiplies every special Skill and Burst hit by 1.4x. At C1, that jumps to 2.2x.

This mechanic completely determines how you build his team. Characters with heavy off-field damage aren't just nice to have — they're what makes the kit functional.

Real Combat Avoidance Guide:

  1. Melt Reaction Triggering: Lohen's Skill infuses him with Cryo for 13 seconds. During that window, Pyro-triggered Melt deals 2x damage, while Cryo-triggered Melt only does 1.5x. That gap is why Durin is considered close to mandatory — she consistently triggers the stronger version. Know who's supposed to be triggering the reaction before you finalize your lineup.

  2. Switching Cancels Infusion: The biggest trap for new Lohen players: switching him off-field mid-Skill window cancels his Cryo infusion immediately and reverts everything to Physical. Get all your teammates' off-field Skills and Bursts out before swapping to Lohen. Don't interrupt his rotation.

二、 Artifacts: One Set, No Real Competition

1. Best-in-Slot Set

  • First Choice: 4-piece A Day Carved From Rising Winds
His absolute best-in-slot for Melt. There isn't a close second. The 2-piece gives ATK +18%. The 4-piece adds ATK +25% after landing any Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Skill, or Burst hit. When Lohen's Hexerei passive is active, the 4-piece bonus further adds CRIT Rate +20%. Combined peak value: up to 43% ATK and 20% CRIT Rate from the set alone. The bonus stacks perfectly with his Charged Attack-heavy rotation.

  • Alternative: 4-piece Blizzard Strayer (Freeze Only)
For Freeze teams only, Blizzard Strayer 4-piece is a reasonable alternative. It makes CRIT capping easy with Frozen enemies, but you trade raw attack scaling for comfort. Lower ceiling than Melt, but more forgiving to play. These two paths are essentially a trade-off between stability and maximum damage ceiling.

2. Main Stat Selection

SlotMain Stat
SandsATK%
GobletCryo DMG Bonus
CircletCRIT Rate / CRIT DMG

Note: Cryo Goblet beats ATK% Goblet by roughly 9% in most scenarios. The gap narrows slightly at higher weapon refinements but Cryo DMG is the default.

Optimal Build Panel Targets:

  • Sub-stat Priority: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK% > Energy Recharge

  • Target Stats: ATK around 2,100 before buffs. CRIT Rate target is 65%+, CRIT DMG around 180%.

  • Energy Recharge: His Burst only costs 60 Energy, so you don't need to overcap. Sitting around 110% ER and Bursting every second rotation costs less than 8% of his overall team damage. Chasing 155% ER to Burst every rotation isn't worth the sub-stat loss.

三、 Weapons: Signature vs. Alternatives

Disaster and Remorse (Signature 5-Star)

674 base ATK, 22.1% CRIT Rate secondary. After using Elemental Skill, it activates two passive buffs lasting 17 seconds — one for Normal and Charged Attack DMG, one for Skill and Burst DMG. In a 2-Hexerei team, this adds up to 70% total DMG Bonus across all of Lohen's attacks. Single Hexerei team at R1 drops to about 40%. Each refinement adds roughly 5% to total output. The gap between R1 signature and the best alternatives is around 15%.

If you already own Staff of Homa or PJWS, the signature upgrade isn't mandatory — the gap exists but it's not a "can't clear content" situation. If you have neither, the weapon banner is worth considering.

WeaponRatingNotes
Staff of Homa⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐High base ATK, HP-to-ATK passive, essentially tied with PJWS.
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐About 15% behind signature at R1, stronger at high refinement.
Fractured Hello⭐⭐⭐⭐Same tier as the above two options. Strong competitive choice.
Deathmatch R5⭐⭐⭐⭐Battle Pass weapon. Best 4-star option, damage gap is highly manageable.
Event Polearms⭐⭐⭐F2P oriented. Fine for casual content, but won't carry easily in high Abyss floors.

四、 Talent Priority: Most Players Get This Wrong

Talent Priority: Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst > Normal Attack

Normal Attack talent does nothing for Cryo infusion mode damage. Leave it at level 1. Lohen's Elemental Skill accounts for around 92% of his total rotation damage. Crown the Skill — it adds roughly 6.2% overall damage. Burst contributes about 8% (firing every two rotations), and crowning it adds only 0.5% total damage. Skip the Burst crown unless you're a completionist.

五、 Best Team Compositions

1. Melt Hexerei Team (Highest Output Right Now)

  • Team Lineup: Lohen / Durin / Nicole / Citlali or Xilonen

  • Team DPS: Testing puts team DPS at roughly 145,000–150,000.

  • Core Logic: Why Durin is close to mandatory: her off-field Pyro hits are heavy enough to fill Lohen's Will to Win bar quickly, and she consistently triggers Pyro-side Melt for the full 2x multiplier. Nicole shreds resistance and buffs ATK for both of them. Citlali or Xilonen fills the flex slot for additional resistance shred and defensive coverage.

  • Damage Distribution: Lohen and Durin split damage roughly 52/47, which is unusually even for a main DPS setup. If you miss a Melt proc or a rotation goes slightly wrong, the whole thing doesn't fall apart — someone else picks up the slack.

  • Vs. Competition: For context, a fully-invested Mavuika Melt team hits around 160,000 DPS, but 95% of that flows through Mavuika alone. Lohen's team has a lower ceiling but much lower variance. One mistake doesn't gut your run.

  • Shanlingxi Warning: If you don't have Durin, Shanlingxi works as a substitute but her Pyro application is fast enough that she sometimes steals the Melt trigger from Lohen's side, bumping it down to 1.5x instead of 2x. Plenty of players ran her for a week before figuring out why their numbers looked off.

2. Freeze Team

  • Team Lineup: Lohen / Shenhe / Furina / Mona

  • Core Logic: Strong crowd control, comfortable on multi-enemy floors. Shenhe boosts Cryo DMG, Furina provides Hydro application and team healing, Mona counts as a Hexerei unit for Lohen's passive.

  • Trade-off: The downside is that Freeze generates light off-field damage, so the Will to Win bar fills slowly and overall DPS drops significantly compared to Melt. Competitive in Abyss only when the Boss can actually be frozen.

3. Geo Flex Team

  • Team Lineup: Lohen / Albedo / Chiori / Bennett

  • Core Logic: The fallback option for players without Durin or Nicole. Geo characters provide consistent off-field damage and defensive value. Bennett supplies Pyro application for Melt. Lower ceiling than the first two teams, but highly accessible with standard roster characters.

六、 Constellations: What's Actually Worth Chasing

  • C0 (Zero Constellations): Fully functional. This isn't a character who feels broken or incomplete without constellations. He can clear high-end content perfectly fine.

  • C1 (Core Powerspike): The best single investment. Will to Win bar cap triples, the full-bar multiplier goes from 1.4x to 2.2x, and fill speed increases 5x. If you already own PJWS or Homa, pulling C1 over the weapon banner is the higher-value play.

  • C2: Gives the entire team +200 Elemental Mastery, which directly boosts Melt and Freeze reaction damage. Worth chasing if you're running him as the core of a Melt or Freeze team long-term.

  • C6: Makes the Will to Win bar and Joy Arrows permanently maxed. Full ceiling unlocked, turning him into a pure numbers monster. Non-whales can easily skip.

七、 Pulling Advice & Primogem Planning

A few strategic factors to consider before wishing:

  1. Standard Banner Mechanics: Lohen is expected to enter the Standard Banner after his debut window, so unlike seasonal limited characters, he won't disappear for a year. If Primogems are tight, waiting to pull him later is a real option.

  2. The Rerun Dilemma: Mavuika is rerunning alongside him and she's still one of the strongest DPS units in the current meta. If your account doesn't have her and you're choosing between the two, figure out which one fills a bigger gap in your team first.

  3. Future Proofing: Version 6.7 is bringing Sandrone on a reworked Superconduct archetype. That's a completely different kit and playstyle — no direct overlap with Lohen, so pulling him now won't result in immediate patch regret.

Top Up Primogems on Kardz Before the Banner Closes

The banner runs until June 30. That's enough time, but Primogems disappear faster than expected when you're pushing for C1 or tracking pity.

Kardz supports Genshin Impact Primogem top-ups — simply enter your game UID (tap your profile icon in the top-left corner of the game, the number listed under your character name). No account login or password required, ensuring 100% security. Most orders land within a few minutes. Kardz supports Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and local payment methods with 24/7 customer support.

If you're planning to chase C1 or considering the weapon banner as well, count your current pity and mileage before deciding how much to top up. Running out five pulls short of pity is the worst possible outcome — figure out the gap first!
