GTA 6 Pre-Orders Open June 25: Price, Editions, Platforms, and Whether You Should Buy Day One

After more than a decade of waiting, GTA 6 is finally entering the pre-order stage.
Rockstar officially confirmed that pre-orders will open on June 25, with full pricing and edition details arriving the same day. The game launches on November 19, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For many fans, this is the first moment GTA 6 has started to feel like a real product rather than a distant release date.
And there's one detail worth paying attention to.
Digital storefronts rarely open pre-orders more than a year before launch. By starting pre-orders on June 25, Rockstar is effectively signaling confidence that November 19 is the date they're sticking with.
Considering GTA 6 has already been delayed multiple times, that's probably the most reassuring news players have received all year.
Is GTA 6 Really Going to Cost $200?
Probably the biggest rumor surrounding GTA 6 over the past few months has been the idea that Rockstar would charge $200 for the base game.
That rumor refuses to die.
The problem is there's never been any evidence supporting it.
Based on industry pricing trends and comments from Take-Two executives, the most realistic expectation looks something like this:
| Edition | Expected Price |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $69.99–$79.99 |
| Deluxe / Special Edition | Around $99.99 |
| Collector's Edition | $150+ |
| PS5 Console Bundle | Estimated $549.99+ |
Nothing is official until June 25.
However, Take-Two has repeatedly suggested that GTA 6 will remain within normal AAA pricing ranges rather than attempting a dramatic jump to triple-digit pricing for the standard version.
So if you've been worried about paying $200 just to play GTA 6, you can probably relax.
PC Players Still Have a Long Wait
This is the part many players won't like hearing.
At launch, GTA 6 is only coming to:
PlayStation 5
Xbox Series X
Xbox Series S
There is still no official PC release date.
Looking at Rockstar's history, that isn't surprising.
GTA V launched on consoles in 2013 and didn't reach PC until 2015.
Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern.
If Rockstar repeats that strategy, PC players could easily be waiting until 2027 or even 2028.
That's not official information.
It's simply what Rockstar has done before.
As for PS4 and Xbox One?
Those platforms are finished as far as GTA 6 is concerned.
The game was built around current-generation hardware from the beginning.
Which Edition Should You Buy?
For most players, the Standard Edition is likely going to be enough.
Rockstar traditionally puts most meaningful gameplay content in the base game rather than locking missions behind premium editions.
The real decision comes down to whether you care about collectibles.
If Rockstar follows the same approach used for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, the Collector's Edition will probably include:
Physical collectibles
Exclusive packaging
Art books
Maps
Bonus cosmetic content
If that's what you're after, waiting could be risky.
Collector's Editions tend to disappear much faster than digital copies.
Where Can You Pre-Order GTA 6?
For digital buyers, the process is simple.
Pre-orders should be available through:
PlayStation Store
Xbox Store
Rockstar Store
There's no reason to rush.
Digital copies don't sell out.
Whether you buy on June 25 or two weeks before launch, you'll still be able to preload and play the moment servers unlock.
Physical editions are different.
Retailers expected to carry GTA 6 include:
Amazon
GameStop
Best Buy
Walmart
Fnac
Micromania
If you're targeting a Collector's Edition, ordering early is the safer move.
Rockstar's previous collector releases didn't stay available for very long.
What We Know About GTA 6 So Far
Rockstar has already confirmed several major details.
The game follows two protagonists:
Jason Duval
Lucia Caminos
Lucia will become the first female playable protagonist in a mainline GTA title.
The setting returns players to Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, Rockstar's fictional version of Florida.
According to Rockstar, the world is significantly larger than GTA V.
Online multiplayer is also expected to evolve from the GTA Online model, though Rockstar hasn't revealed detailed plans yet.
That information will likely arrive much closer to launch.
Should You Pre-Order Right Away?
Honestly, this depends less on the game and more on how you normally buy games.
If you're already certain you'll play GTA 6 on day one, pre-ordering is perfectly reasonable.
Digital purchases carry very little risk, and most storefronts allow cancellations before launch.
If you're the type of player who waits for reviews, there's no real disadvantage to waiting.
The game won't sell out digitally.
The only thing you could miss is a pre-order bonus if Rockstar offers one.
Collector's Editions are the exception.
If that's the version you want, waiting is usually the risky choice.
The Bigger Question: GTA Online
While everyone is focused on the launch version of GTA 6, Rockstar is almost certainly thinking about the long-term future of GTA Online.
GTA Online became one of the most successful live-service games ever made, generating billions through Shark Cards and in-game purchases.
It's difficult to imagine GTA 6 Online moving away from that model.
Whether they're called Shark Cards or something entirely new, in-game currency purchases will almost certainly remain a major part of Rockstar's strategy.
For now, though, the focus is simple.
June 25 is when we finally learn exactly what GTA 6 costs, which editions exist, and how Rockstar plans to sell the biggest game launch of the decade.
After waiting this long, that's a milestone worth paying attention to.
